Woodstock Weekend Workshops: Still Life-Color & Energy 1 Feb.27&28 Sat&Sun 9-4
Workshop opens with brief history of the still life painting genre, followed by discussion/demonstration setting up a still life. Focus on basic principles of composition - scale and balance. Various lighting techniques will be explored. Warm/cool color relationships and how chosen lighting effects objects will be studied. Students will be setting up still life compositions to work from, using supplied objects. Demos will be done with oil paint; students are welcome to bring any color medium. Open to all levels.
Still Life-Color & Energy 2 March 20&21 Sat&Sun 9-4
Beginning with discussion on color theory, students will be creating a still life composition to work from using supplied objects, including plant and flower forms. Focus on the use of neutral and saturated color to achieve space and form. Painting methods, mood and attitude as it relates to subject will be studied. Sebasco Art Workshops at Rock Gardens Inn on Casco Bay, Maine
June 27 - July 2
Working directly from the landscape, workshop participants will have the opportunity to study the unique light of Casco Bay. This workshop will focus on the study of color-the atmospheric effects of light on color at different times of the day. Simplifying your subject matter, warm and cool relationships, mixing neutral and gray colors are some of the basic painting issues this workshop will cover. Emphasis will be placed on sharpening individual painters seeing and drawing skills. On Wednesday evening, Peter will lead an informal powerpoint presentation on contemporary landscape painting. Workshop is open to all mediums, and skill levels. Demonstrations will be done in oil paint.
